Guest Speaker David Quinn

Theme: ‘Catholics in the Modern Sexual Minefield’.

David Quinn is a well-known journalist in Ireland who specialises in religious and social affairs. He has been a national newspaper columnist since 1994, and currently has columns each week in both The Sunday Independent and The Irish Catholic. He was editor of The Irish Catholic from 1996 until 2003 and Social and Religious Affairs Correspondent for The Irish Independent from 2003 until 2006.

He frequently appears on radio and television programmes and also contributes to numerous magazines overseas. Among those he has debated are the ‘new atheists’, Professor Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens.

He has taken part regularly in national debates about issues such as the right-to-life, the nature of marriage, Church/State relations, Christian sexual morality, religious freedom and the future of faith-based schools.

He is founder and head of The Iona Institute, a Christian research and advocacy group that focuses on some of the above-mentioned issues, including the right to life, the family, and freedom of religion. The Iona Institute was launched in 2007.
