May Faith Café to focus on the role of Grandparents in nurturing vocations

The Grandparents’ Faith Café will open again online on Tuesday 10 May.

The CGA is delighted to announce Father Willie Purcell as guest speaker. Father Purcell will speak on the theme of ‘The role of Grandparents in nurturing vocations to Priesthood and Religious Life’.

Father Willie Purcell is Parish Priest of Clara in the Diocese of Ossory in Ireland. He is National Co-ordinator for Diocesan Vocations with the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference and is also a member of their Council for Immigrants.  He holds an MA in Theology from Saint Patricks College Maynooth and has taught in secondary and third level colleges.  He hosts a Saturday morning religious programme called Spirit Alive on Community Radio Kilkenny and also writes for national magazines on religious and social affairs topics.  Father Purcell directs retreats and parish workshops in Ireland, England and the USA.

Commenting ahead of the May Faith Café, Catherine Wiley, CGA Founder said, “I am very much looking forward to welcoming Father Purcell to our next Faith Café. We all know the pivotal role that Grandparents play in families. We sometimes overlook the role that many generations of Grandparents have played in nurturing vocations to priesthood and religious life. With many countries in the world experiencing a decline in vocations to priesthood and religious life, now is the perfect time to look again at our role and to see what we might offer by way of encouragement to the priests and religious of the future. Please come along on 10 May and invite someone who has not attended before to come along too.”
