Grandparents Day in School was introduced into this country by the CGA.  It is a most successful event.  Many schools host the Grandparents Day during Catholic Schools Week in February every year.  A huge crowd turned out in St Colmcille’s National School for the event today (Sept 9th).  Principal, John Meaney, holds Grandparnts Day in September.  “We let the new 6th class pupils plan and arrange the Grandparents Day in School.  It really engages them and is a great bonding exercise as they settle into their new class.”  Goodies and treats were available for everybody as the 6th class pupils welcomed Grandparents to the school and served refreshments.  Joe McCormack, and Pádraig and Bridie Kelly were presented with boxes of sweets by Mr Meaney on behalf of the staff and pupils in honour of being Great-Grandparents.
