CGA launches emblem for the World Day of Prayer for Grandparents and the Elderly

The Catholic Grandparents Association has created its own emblem for the World Day of Prayer for Grandparents and the Elderly which will be celebrated for the first time on Sunday 25 July 2021.

The image at the centre of the emblem features Saint Joachim and Saint Anne, parents of Mary and Grandparents of Jesus. The image was commissioned by the Catholic Grandparents Association in 2014 and has formed the centre of our logo since then.

It was a concept that Catherine Wiley, Founder of the CGA had for many years and it was lovingly and carefully brought to life for the CGA by renowned Catholic artist Joe DeVito.

In keeping with the charism of the Catholic Grandparents Association our image has at its centre the Child Jesus holding a red rose representing the Blessed Virgin Mary as the mystic rose. Jesus is surrounded by his Grandparents and together three generations, Grandparents, parents and children are represented as one family symbolising the communion of the Holy Trinity.

The Catholic Grandparents Association offers this emblem to parishes and dioceses for use to promote the World Day of Prayer for Grandparents and the Elderly on Sunday 25 July 2021.

The logo is available to download as a high resolution PNG image or a lower resolution JPEG image. (see below)

A transparency is available on request from the CGA. The image may be used on websites and social media pages as well as in parish newsletters. Permission must be sought for its use on commercially printed materials.
