CGA to welcome Rector of Knock Shrine as guest speaker for September Faith Café

The CGA is delighted to announce that Father Richard Gibbons will be guest speaker at our Grandparents’ Faith Café on Tuesday 14 September online via Zoom.  Father Gibbons is a priest of the Archdiocese of Tuam and Parish Priest and Rector of Knock Shrine, Ireland’s International Eucharistic and Marian Shrine.

Father Gibbons is a native of Louisburgh, County Mayo.  He studied philosophy and theology in Rome and was ordained in 1999.  Father Richard undertook post-graduate studies in Rome from 1999-2000.  In 2000 he was appointed curate in Headford and chaplain to the presentation secondary school there.  While in Headford Father Richard obtained a Higher Diploma in Education from NUIG.  In 2003 Father Richard was appointed curate to Our Lady’s Shrine, Knock, and ministered in Knock until his appointment as Parish Priest and Rector in 2012.

He has overseen many exciting developments at the Shrine over the years including the unveiling of a new Apparition Mosaic in 2016; the visit of Pope Francis as part of the World Meeting of Families 2018 and most recently the designation of Knock as an International Eucharistic and Marian Shrine.

He will join Grandparents from around the world for the CGA’s monthly online gathering and will address us on the theme ‘Our Pilgrim Journey’.

Commenting ahead of the September Faith Café, Catherine Wiley, Founder of the CGA said, “We are deeply honoured to have him as our guest speaker for our Faith Café.  Father Richard is closely linked to the story of the Catholic Grandparents Association and has been of great support to us for our National Grandparents’ Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine each year and on the occasion of the first World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly in July.  I have no doubt that he will be well received by all who attend our forthcoming Faith Café. I look forward to giving him a warm welcome to our online gathering.”

Booking is open now by email to info@catholicgrandparentsassociation.org.
